We Will Hear The Angels at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026

We Will Hear The Angels will be presented at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026, following its critically acclaimed premiere at the Fruitmarket in Edinburgh in January 2025.

Created by Magnetic North, the production is a poignant exploration of melancholy and the emotional power of music.

“A unique insight into unversal heartbreak” A Youngish Perspective
“A mature and beautiful ackownedgement of loss and grief” The Scotsman
“A beautiful piece of theatre” All Edinburgh Theatre

Performed by an ensemble of five actor-musicians, the show features an eclectic score including music by Hank Williams, Orange Juice, Etta James and J.S.Bach, among others.. The work draws inspiration from the final scene of Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, alongside influences such as the films Wings of Desire and Rear Window, and the short stories of Katherine Mansfield.

Bea is stunned by the revelation of her husband’s infidelity: she feels heartbroken and alone. If only she knew that her neighbours, Sonia, Van and Ian, were each also trying to get over the pain in their hearts, unable to articulate how they feel. Maybe the mysterious Lou can help them?

A poignant and uplifting celebration of the power of melancholy music.
