The Dream Train (1999)

by Tom McGrath

A play in counterpoint by Tom McGrath, inspired by Bach’s Goldberg Variations and Glenn Gould’s two recordings. Set in a Scottish east-coast castle, the narrative weaves together the dreams and realities of a Bach-obsessed baron, a mysterious androgynous figure, the baron’s ageing wife and an attractive young stranger met on a train heading to the same station.
