A play in counterpoint based on J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Set in a castle on Scotland’s east coast, a baron obsessed with Bach’s music struggles with insomnia while tended by an androgynous figure. Simultaneously, his ageing wife meets an attractive young man on a northbound train. Four characters weave through each other’s dreams and realities over 90 minutes, with live keyboard music threading through the text.
